International Congress on Environmental Modelling and Software
Integrating Sciences and Information Technology for Environmental Assessment and Decision Making
July 6-10, 2008 - Barcelona, Catalonia
Incorporating the 4th Biennial Meeting of iEMSs.
After the three very successful previous congresses held in Lugano, Switzerland (iEMSs 2002), Osnabrück, Germany (iEMSs 2004) and Burlington, Vermont, USA (iEMSs 2006), the 4th iEMSs congress will be held in Barcelona, Catalonia. iEMSs 2008 is hosted by the Knowledge Engineering & Machine Learning group (KEMLG) of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) together with the Laboratory of Chemical and Environmental Engineering (LEQUIA), from University of Girona (UdG).
The congress venue will be at the Campus Nord of the Technical University of Catalonia, located in the north-western area of the Mediterranean city of Barcelona.
The aim of the congress is to enhance environmental processes by means of fostering the discussion and interchange of challenges, solutions, ideas, new methods and techniques, and future research lines in environmental modelling & software. The congress joins together several interest groups working in different but complementary features and/or scientific fields in Environmental Modelling, Assessment, Decision Making and Information Technologies. This time, the focus will be stressed on Integrating Sciences and Information Technology for Environmental Assessment and Decision Making.

10th International Symposium On Landslides And Engineered Slopes

The 10th International Symposium on Landslides and Engineered Slopes will be held from June 30 to July 4, 2008 in Xi'an China. The symposium is one of the most important activities of the Joint Technical Committee on Landslides and Engineered Slopes (JTC1) under the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM) and International Association on Engineering Geology (IAEG).
The Symposium will be jointly organized by the three Chinese national sister societies, and the Geotechical Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.

International Groundwater Symposium

The next International Groundwater Symposium organized by the International Association of Hydraulic Engineering and Research (IAHR) will be held in Istanbul Turkey from June 18-20, 2008. The purpose of the Symposium is to bring together researchers focused on fundamental laboratory-scale experimentation and mathematical modelling of flow and transport in natural subsurface systems with hydrogeologists, geologists and engineers working on field applications and groundwater management problems. The Symposium will provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and expertise among the various research and applied groups, for better understanding of the complex, coupled and scale-dependent processes governing flow and transport in porous and fractured media. The interactions among the multi-disciplinary participants of the Symposium will also serve to recognize limitations of existing analysis approaches and help identify future research avenues.
